Haruna Nagashima used to play in the softball club until middle school, and she gave her best practicing like crazy, but still managed to make many great friends. Unfortunately she wasn't satisfied because there was one more thing she wanted the most: love. She read shoujo manga every day after practices and always thought that love would have been something wonderful. Because of that she made a hard decision to give up all her club activities in middle school, so in high school she could try her best to find true love.

During the first semester she realizes that she has to work hard to find a boyfriend. For the first time in her life she waited all dressed up hoping to be picked up by some guys, but nobody seemed to notice her. She lost her hope. However when she overheard a guy talking to his friend addressing him as someone who really knows what guys look for in girls, she realized that that good-looking guy could have helped her in some ways. The next day, she told her friend about her bad luck and she even told her about that guy, thinking of him as a coach who could train her to become attractive. Fortunately that guy attends her high school, and she decides it was her only chance in life to reach her purpose. She gathered up her courage to ask him to coach her, but he has no intention to do it. He seems to hate girls, and he still doesn't want to help her even when his sister asks him to help Haruna, because he has had a bad love experience which he suffered a lot. So his sister, Asami Komiyama, decides to help her by herself. She asks Haruna to go to her house so she could give her the dress she uses when guys pick her up. That guy still doesn't want to help Haruna out, and he warns her that love is not all about good things. She knows from his sister about his sad past, and tells him that love can hurt and bring pain but if you give it your best you'll never regret it.The next day Haruna is all dressed up again and she is ready to be picked up by someone.

Meanwhile that guy is at home with his sister who is watching a video featuring Haruna's softball match when her team lost in the last inning. That guy sees her crying in the video because of her loss, he then understands the true meaning behind what she told him before about love, and he finally decides to coach her under one condition: she will never have to fall in love with him.
